Luma has been supplying tungsten wire and molybdenum wire for the lightning industry for over 80 years. Actually, Luma Metall AB has its origin from The Luma-lampan, founded 1930 as a producer of light-bulbs. Today, new techniques within the lightning application area have minimized the use of tungsten and molybdenum wires.
LUMA wire is still supplied to companies working within this application area. Tungsten and molybdenum wire is still used in production of light-bulbs. The feedstock material, so called non-sag tungsten, used in Luma production as well as the capability of producing very fine sizes, still makes Luma a preferred supplier of material to the lightning industry.
